"Don't ever forget it!"

One of my absolute favourites - something I cut out of the paper many moons ago, back in the late Nineties I think.

While the language has aged a tad here and there, particularly the final exhortation, the content is spot on, and remains as relevant as ever.

I would refer to this frequently when leading client teams or projects, working with bright and highly qualified colleagues, who had often never been shown the importance of real client engagement, and what "know your client" should really mean.

In today's fast moving, technologically driven, business world, it is more important than ever not to lose focus on the two key fundamentals of any business - its people and, as The Bhutan National Bank knew all too well, its customers.

They are, after all, "The life blood of this and every other business - without them we would have to close our door."
